Matheran
Location : 110km East from Mumbai. 2,636ft above sea level.
Matheran is a small charming hill station located a hundred
kilometers from Mumbai. The climate is pleasant throughout the year
but it is magical during monsoon and very chilly during winters.
Previously, trekkers used to make brave and adventurous trips to
hill station atop after facing deep forests and occasionally
leopards just to have the bewitching and magnificent view of lush
plains, silver rivers and deep forests.
You can reach this hill station on a horse back or hand pulled carts
or very joyous toy train. Walker's paradise, this bewitching hill
station is covered with ever green forest with about 38 lookout
points to take your breath away. Forests keep it cool and makes it a
perfect getaway point for every traveler. If you reside in Mumbai,
take a week's off and spend some time here praising nature's beauty.

Places of Interest
King George Point:
This is one of the finest waterfalls formed by overflowing water of
Charlott Lake.
Panorama point
Away from the Bazpeth, Panorama point gives a spectacular view of
the Sahyadri ranges.
Charloot Lake:
This is one of the only water source located at the top of
Maretheran and provides water to entire Maretheran.
Hart Point and Monkey Point
These undistributed and densely forested area are ideal for bird
watchers.
Porcupine Point and Luisa Point
Enjoy sunset here. Watch the ruins of Prabal Fort and grass topped
hills.
Accessibility:
Trains from Mumbai will drop you at Neral Station which is 21 km
away from where you can catch the toy train. By road, the place can
be accessed via Katraj and Neral. State Transport buses ply
regularly from Bombay and Pune.
